Centr alternative

Better Yoga vs Centr

Centr is a premium, wide-scope platform: training, meal plans and mindfulness, with serious production behind it. Better Yoga is deliberately none of that. This is a comparison between a lot and a little, and a little is sometimes the right answer.

What Centr is good at

Centr, launched under Chris Hemsworth's name, is a complete programme rather than a video library. Training plans run alongside structured meal planning with shopping lists, and a mindfulness and sleep section sits beside both. The trainers are credentialled, the production is expensive, and the whole thing is coherent in a way that a lot of fitness apps are not.

It suits people who want the whole project handled — what to train, what to eat, how to recover — and who are happy to train with equipment. Pricing sits at the top of this list, around $29.99 a month or $149.99 a year, with cheaper effective rates on longer commitments and a 7-day trial.

The actual difference

The difference is scope, and it is enormous.

Centr wants to run your training, your kitchen and your recovery. Better Yoga wants to give you one movement session a day and get out of the way. There is no nutrition content here, no meal planning, no equipment programming and no strength periodisation. If you want a complete system, this app will feel thin — correctly, because it is.

Where it is ahead is the specific problem it solves. Centr's plans, like most structured programmes, assume you will execute the week as written. Better Yoga assumes you will not, and builds each morning from a check-in instead — so a bad night produces a shorter, gentler session rather than a missed workout and a plan you are now behind on.

There is also a cost difference worth stating plainly: Centr is one of the more expensive apps in this category, and a large part of that price is the nutrition and production you may not want.

US store pricing checked in August 2026. Both apps run promotional pricing that varies by region, device and campaign, so treat these as the shape of the deal rather than a quote — check the current price in the store before deciding.

Which one you should pick

Choose Centr if

  • You want training and nutrition handled together
  • You have equipment, or a gym, and want to use it
  • Strength, HIIT or boxing is what you actually want to do
  • You will follow a structured programme as written
  • Production values and celebrity coaching matter to you

Choose Better Yoga if

  • You want yoga and Pilates, not a full training system
  • You have no equipment and no interest in acquiring any
  • Twenty-five minutes is your ceiling, not your floor
  • You want the plan to react when the week goes wrong
  • You do not want diet content attached to your movement

These are not competing religions. Plenty of people keep a big library for the days they want to browse and a daily plan for the days they do not.

Does Better Yoga include meal plans?

No. There is no nutrition content of any kind — no meal plans, no shopping lists, no calorie tracking.

Do I need equipment?

Not for Better Yoga: every session is bodyweight and wall-based. Many Centr workouts assume dumbbells or other kit.
